But some compatability issues i dont like. For the money, i would say it is well worth it.
The quality of the prints are very acceptable for documents and school assignments which is why i bought it. But i have a huge problem with the printer that is a huge bummer. I put this same info in the answer i gave to someones question about airprint compatability but wanted to post it here as well. To add to my info below, the printer does have nfc print capability. But if you happen to be a iphone user, including the 6 and 6s which i have both, you cannot print using nfc from an iphone yet. Now that the iphones have general nfc capability used for applepay, maybe it is just a software change to add printing.6/19/15 – the printer is still working properly.
I got this printer today and installed it. I have installed many printers before, this is my fourth laser printer, and still read the quick setup instructions. Packagingit is typical for a laser printer. Several tape strips hold the various doors securely for transit.
I did get my fingers dirty with powder ink while removing the long strip of plastic that covers the rubber roller; it seems unavoidable due to the cartridge design. It was not much as i was careful and do not consider it a negative. Design and constructionthe printer is small and compact.
The paper tray is about one inch longer than the printer (due to a small extension to fit 8.Works great for printing research papers. It’s not lightning fast when printing and some configuration is required to get the defaults to work correctly with some of your apps.
But overall, it does the job for me and has duplex printing, so i can’t really complain. For the wireless to work, you will need a wireless capable device to set your printer up (i. If you have a desktop computer connected only through ethernet, you won’t be able to set up wireless unless you connect the printer to your computer first via a usb cable). However, if you have a laptop, the installation software takes care of the wireless setup and puts the printer on your network, after which all devices on your network can access the printer.
GREAT PRINTERBut with TWO HUGE WARNINGS!. I absolutely love that I don’t need to turn it on. I was still a little skeptical as many praised the printer but others spoke of how horrible it wasNo more ‘yellow low’ rip off software.
Excellent printing, real plug and play, and best of all – no more rip off on greedy over priced inki finally cut the cord to the inkjet. With hp joining the parade to make their money on overpriced ink, while cutting the quality of their printers, i was just fed up with not being able to print during a weekend project because hp’s software said my printer was low on ink when a full set of new cartridges were just installed. After several weeks trying to find a satisfactory alternative, reviews of the samsung convinced me to switch to lazar. Prints when i want it to like a printer should.
Supplied ‘starter’ toner still going strong after three months. Replacement toner available at reasonable price.
Since i was seldom using color on my inkjet because of the fear that the hp software would decide i was ‘low’ on ink, i really do not miss having a color printing. Not fancy, no bells or whistles, but no sneaky ‘low ink’ software, always ready and willing to print, and this printer does what is supposed to do with out always having my wallet held captive. Recommended and would purchase again.Be careful if you have macos sierra. Might even go as low as two stars. This is a great printer when it works. I’ve found it can be frustrating to wake it from power save mode, and it is also a pain to print from my iphone. The original setup was fine, but i accidentally locked myself out of the login for the printer and needed to reset the printer.
The software to manage the printer and reset it to default was pretty buggy and took a while to accomplish the reset. And then the software that samsung has on their support page (‘easy wireless setup’) does not even work. I get an error of ‘“wireless setting” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the trash. Features of Samsung Xpress SL-M2835DW/XAA Wireless Monochrome Printer, Amazon Dash Replenishment Enabled. Print right from your smartphone with Samsung Mobile Print app.
NFC-enabled to connect wirelessly to your mobile device. Prints crisp black-and-white text and images at 29 pages per minute. Reduces toner, paper, and energy use with convenient Eco button.
Duplex printing allows you to easily print on both sides of the paperHow to fix the red light of death. I own three of these printers (and the multifunction fax/printer version of this printer) at my office. This product needs 2 cartridges to print. If your printer has been working normally and then refuses to print and you see a red light despite changing toner cartridges, you most likely need to purchase and replace the ‘imaging unit’ cartridge (mlt-r116) which is different from a toner cartridge (mlt-d116). The printers actually work really great.
They are reliable, quick, economical, produce great black-and-white images and have a ton of features. The reason i lowered my rating to 4 stars is that samsung does not make the above issue clear to purchasers, as samsung does not provide a printed user’s manual with the printer. Instead, the user’s manual comes on a cd that may be difficult to open and review.Start-up power requirements. I don’t print much, only a few times a year so i didn’t need much of a printer but i was tired of ink jet printers that always had cartridges with clogged jets or low ink or whatever. When i found that my local big box store didn’t sell black ink for my old hp inkjet and that i would have to get it online for $49 a cartridge i decided it was time to go back to a laser printer because i also needed to add linux support.
I already had a canon all-in-one laser that i purchased expressly for home office use but found it didn’t support linux or os x. Samsung monitors have worked out well for me so i decided to try a samsung printer. I read some reviews of this model’s predecessor that made me nervous because a common complaint was the high current draw at start up. I also read this one was better in regards to that problem and didn’t see any complaints about the issue in amazon reviews (at the time, since then i have seen one) so i bought this one. Easy setup and configuration (ethernet and static ip) good quality printing but the start-up current draw is still too high. The brother all-in-one laser is no problem, but this samsung pulls enough at start up that power conditioners and ups’s don’t like it (it’s not plugged into a ups).
So now i’m thinking of replacing it with a brother that a couple people have told me should meet my requirements. Finally real plug and play. I just plugged in the printer, ran the software on my pc, it found the printer and printed a test page plus i printed a web page just to make sure it works. So painless, so seamless and no wires. I don’t know how the printer got the passkey to my router but it did. It’s like magic, and it’s laser so the cartridge will last a long time. Prints way faster than an inkjet printer, though this one is only black and white.
I don’t need color to print text. It has many other features which i have not tried and probably never will.No more ‘yellow low’ rip off software. Recommended and would purchase again.Great for mac, ios wireless printing. I’m writing this mainly for fellow mac users, some of whom may have struggled (as i have) with wireless printing.
I use an airport extreme base station, my family has various macs, and we’ve traditionally had brother laser printers, which are excellent. The problem is they often don’t play nicely on a mac network (google to find countless postings on this–as far as i know it remains an issue with many different brother models). I tried an hp and i thought it was terrible–nearly impossible to set up, and a weird, badly proportioned design with the paper sort of on the outside. So then i got this samsung–which is everything i was hoping for in a printer. Wireless printing is a piece of cake, with almost instantaneous transmission of data (a big contrast to brother).
And you can easily print from your iphone or ipad. So far it’s only seen light-duty use, so i can’t vouch for it after thousands of pages. In the past 10 years i’ve had a number of printers at work.
This, by far, is my favorite. This printer offers the ability to easily print in duplex, toner-saver, and 2 pages per page view.
Has significantly cut down on my paper and toner usage.I was still a little skeptical as many praised the printer but others spoke of how horrible it was. Bought this for christmas as our home printer all-in one unit had finally died. After reading all the reviews, i was still a little skeptical as many praised the printer but others spoke of how horrible it was. At the price i decided to give it a shot. We use our tablets and phones mostly these days and wanted a wireless printer that we can print from our tablets and phones with. This printer fits the bill for us.
The first printer i received was damaged, however after a quick call to amazon cs a return authorization was in hand and a new printer was on its way. I used the suggestions of many reviewers buy doing the initial setup using the included sub cable on my home computer running win 7 with no issues. Tablets including my ipad air 2 and 1st gen ipad, along with the wife’s iphone 6 and her 2nd gen fire tablet picked up the printer via wireless fine. The printer wakes up fast when a print job is sent to it, prints quickly and the quality is very good.Great printerbut with two huge warnings. The samsung xpress sl-m2835 laser printer is awesome.
Except for two huge stupid issues. issue #1 concerns incorrect instructions for properly setting up the printer for first-time use. The printer’s lame quick start guide neglects to mention a crucial step for getting it to work properly. issue #2 concerns the type of paper you must use to avoid constant paper jams. Pros:this is my 4th samsung laser printer. The pros listed below apply to all my samsung laser printers, including this xpress model. Samsung laser printers work like champs without ever breaking down.
They are efficient in consuming ink. They print pretty fast for an inexpensive printer. They easily connect to my pcs via my office network by ethernet cable or by direct cable (to a pc).Great printer once it is set up. It is small and has duplex printing. However, it took mequite a bit of time to set it up. The steps are not very clear by reading thesimple set up guide in the package.
Removing blue tapes is straightforward. Then, the cartridge needs to be taken out.
Pull the clear plastic strip out ofthe toner and remove the orange piece. The hardwareshould be ready.Price/performance ratio is awesome on this little printer. Got this 6 moths ago and have had flawless performance.
Both my wife and i print out draft documents for review and editing from home – but we don’t use it for final production because we have fancier printers at work. Mostly, i print stuff out for the kids, like coloring pages, so i would characterize our use as fairly light. I researched the heck out of light duty b&w laser printers, and landed on this one as the best fit. I am pleased to report i bought well. Here’s why i love it:. it has a pretty small footprint, and sits under a standing desk, but on top of a rolling filing cabinet.
the images and text are clear and easy to read. the duplex printing works great, and is a real paper saver. we’ve printed 500 pages and we are till only at 33% of ink usage in the starter toner.Start-up power requirements. Not a fan of the samsung printer software. This printer was the result of much research on what printer to buy for myself.
I take college courses at night and online so i needed to find a printer on a reasonable budget that would also provide cheap printing long term. For that, a duplex (printing on both sides of the paper), monochrome (black and white / grayscale) laser printer was ideal. The price per page for this is only marginally better than the brother branded printer equivalent with a higher quality print. It’s worth noting that some of the other big names like the previously mentioned brand have more 3rd party replacement parts with cost less than what you would end up paying through the original manufacturer.
Whatever you do, don’t buy another inkjet unless you /really/ need to print color cheaply.Great for mac, ios wireless printing.
